FAQ

Common questions

How does AI slotting and putaway work in practice?

Shipsy analyses pick frequency, order co-occurrence, product dimensions, handling units, and seasonal patterns to continuously optimise product placement. Putaway is guided — the mobile app directs the operator to the correct location based on velocity, zone, and available capacity. Slotting re-optimisation runs continuously, not just quarterly.

Which picking strategies does Shipsy support?

All of them — single order, batch, cluster, island & forwarding, zone-based, MHE-based, and user-based. Waves can be configured to apply different strategies by order profile, customer priority, or SKU type within the same warehouse.

How do you handle batch, shelf-life, and FEFO for pharma / FMCG?

Batch and serial control is native. FEFO (First Expiry First Out) is enforced at pick, not as a report after the fact. Multiple MRPs against the same SKU are handled. For pharma, inventory status flows (Unrestricted / On-hold / Blocked) map directly to 21 CFR Part 11 and GMP audit requirements.

Can Shipsy WMS integrate with our existing systems?

Yes. REST APIs for ERP, OMS, TMS, POS, and payments. Native SAP S/4 HANA bidirectional integration. Event webhooks for downstream automation. IoT integrations for conveyors, sortation, weighing scales, barcode/RFID, and label printers.

Does the WMS support multi-warehouse and multi-brand operations?

Yes. Unified visibility across warehouses. Inter-warehouse transfers and distributed order orchestration. Brand-level zone segregation within the same facility. Customers run 30+ warehouses and 15+ brands on a single tenant.

How long does deployment typically take?

6–8 weeks from BRD sign-off to go-live for a standard deployment: 1 week for BRD, 3–4 weeks for product + integration build, 1 week for UAT and dry-run, 1–2 weeks for go-live under hypercare. Complex multi-warehouse rollouts are sequenced accordingly.

How does wave planning work?

AI generates wave plans that balance order priority, zone workload, carrier cut-off times, and picker availability — maximising throughput while meeting SLA deadlines. Exception handling and re-planning happen continuously as new orders arrive.
